TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Unmatched tournament will be played in a points-based Swiss format. In this format, each match will be played over two battles, with each battle being worth points:
- Battle ONE is worth 1 point
- Battle TWO is worth 2 points
The tournament winner is the player with the
highest total points earned in all rounds
Players bring four of their own different characters to play on two maps provided randomly by the tournament organizers.
*The Following Characters are banned: Doctor Strange, Elektra, Sherlock Holmes
a) To start a match, players are presented with both maps so they can make an informed decision where they would like to secretly assign their characters, two per map. The first map will be the first battle. The second map, along with the secret characters assigned to it, are set aside to be used for battle two.
b) Players then simultaneously reveal the two characters they had assigned to the first map. Then, assign heads to one set of characters, and tails to the opposing characters. Flip a coin to determine which set of characters are used for battle one. The player that does NOT own those characters gets to select which character to play as.
Flip a coin to determine which player will be first player, and which will be second player.
c) The winner of battle one scores 1 point for the battle, chooses which set of characters to use in battle two, as well as which character to play from that set. The player who lost battle one selects to play first or second player in battle two.
d) Points from both battles are totalled when reporting points to the tournament organizers.
Match Rules
- Players may take a single full mulligan by shuffling their hand back into their deck and drawing 5 new cards.
- The following information is public knowledge and cannot be hidden.
- Deck count
- Cards in the discard pile (Discard layouts are optional)
- and number of cards in hand.
- Players must call for a referee if rules are broken at a table. The referee’s ruling is final. If a rule is broken and players do not report it immediately, this is considered “normal” play and its effect on the final game results must be accepted.
- Each match is 60 minutes. (30 minutes x 2 rounds)
- Players are encouraged not to employ time wasting tactics, and try to keep their turn within 3 minutes. If time wasting is suspected, a judge will remind the offender once to stick within the alloted time. A second warning will reduce the offender’s turn to 1 minute.
- If the game is not over when the time runs out, players finish their turn so that each of them has played the same number of times. Then, if the match is still not finished, the player with the highest ratio of remaining health points (hero and sidekick combined) to initial health points wins the match. In the event of a tie, the winner is determined at random.
